Customs & Duties in Thailand

If you do not have a huge amount of baggage, it is not necessary for you to worry about customs. Medium amount of clothes or personal stuffs will be definitely duty free, you can also bring a camera with some rolls of film, camcorders, a bottle of wine or less than 200 cigarettes without worrying about the customs and duties.

However, if you bring costly devices to Thailand, for example computers, you may be required to pay a deposit. If you cannot certify that the device is aim for using in Thailand, you can be forced to leave it with customs while you are enjoying your time in this country.

There is Fine Art Department in Thailand that you should ask for their permits if you wish to bring Buddha images, antiques or art products out of the country. However, the rules or it is not strict. Cheap souvenirs may not need the permits, but costly pieces of arts need them. If you buy one, ask the salesman for a receipt so as to get the permits. You also need to remember that opium, pornography and weapons are prohibited, you will be fined if you try to break the law.
